In a particle physics detector, the way you look for quarks is by recontructing where all the particles that the quark decayed into went. They group together into a bunch of tracks which originate at one point (vertex) we call a jet.
Joule
This is the basic unit of Energy. The more energy you have, the more Joules you have.
